Ullo smee again!
I'd like to get the piece I'm working on, down to paper, purely as an exercise. However, I've run into trouble. One of the notes is sounded not by picking, but by fretting an already-ringing string. Obviously the target note is easy to define but how do you indicate this method of sounding it? Both fretting and lifting of finger need it.
Is there a name for it, too? These are single notes so musical notation or tab usage is fine either way. Thanks!

I believe it's called hammer on. You can indicate it by putting an h between the two notes on your tab.

Pulling the finger off would be a pull off(and I've seen it called a flick off) and you can use a p to indicate it.
Of course, the notation isn't law and you could use whatever method you like to indicate what and how it should be played. As long as you give some indication of what the notation you've used means.
I think that's about it ?
