until I moved I used to collect and cultivate rare indigenous and african succulents, especially the aloe family.
A man after my own heart! I've been known to do my plant shopping in places as obscure as Leeu-Gamka..! Cape winters are way too soggy for them though (The garden moves indoors for 6 months a year) so I fantasize regularly about buying a piece of the Karoo... ?
Apart from succulents, I can't say no to books... our house is bursting at the seams with them!
Haha, then you have to know I come from Natal, summer, rain..., put them in a hot house, humidity gives them fungal disseases, comes winter, frost and then being in a forestry area you have all kinds of pests breeding in those Australian megaweeds, so its an agonizing exersize throughout the year, but still worth it, I've lost alot of irreplaceble plants during moving aswell, so I called it chill until I've finished studying.
Our house looks like a museum, my mom collects books and both my parents collect special stones and antiques from the wars and old furniture and what not.
Buying a piece of the Karoo wouldn't help much, there's always that one more that just doesn't want to adapt without being looked after like a baby ?
