humbuckers extremely noise sensitive

the humbuckers on my Cort Source have become extremely noise sensitive.. they are picking up and amplifying every single little touch or bump of movement.. just lifting your finger up off a string is loudly amplified thru the amp.. which is now createing quiet a noise soup when you try play it.. just tapping on the cover with the plectrum results in the tap being loudly aamplified thru the amp. any ideas on whats going on and how to cure this?? i dont think its the gain on the amp, as it happens on the clean and drive channels and happens on both amps.. even with the amp gaim turned down.. ??? ???

I could be way off here, but how close are the pups to your strings? Try lowering them a bit and see if it makes a difference...

thats has been suggested by a mate of mine.. haven't tried it yet, but will give it a go tonight... so you may not be that way off at all..

also trying to arrange to take it to someone else tonight for their opinion.. if they go "ahhh that classic humbucker sound...." then i will ask the mods to delete this thread and post something in the classifieds tomorrow.. ?

I'm also leaning to it being the single-coil/humbucker difference. There is a massive difference in output level (about double) when comparing most single-coils to most humbuckers - I usually kick in the -6dB switch on my Tube Tamer when plugging in my one humbucker guitar, and it's still louder than my other guitars.

Lowering pickups will help (but you'll get a bit more body tone and a "woodier" tone), as will lower output pickups.
