I love your site. I think you're what this country needs.

Once we have a significant amount of members, would you consider sponsoring a guitar giveaway?

    Dear Friends,

To celebrate this wonderful event we have prepared Christmas Sale for you on www.muz.co.za. Up to 35% Off on Specials and 10 % Off Entire Stock!

Everything is cheaper at www.muz.co.za during December. It is time to spoil yourself or somebody you love.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

    Best regards,

    Muz.co.za Team

Muz will be open until the Christmas Day 25th Dec. We then take a break for the Christmas holidays and will resume as usual from Monday 7th January. You are welcome to place the orders during Christmas Holidays which will be processed as soon as possible on Monday 7th.

P.S. We are busy creating a lot of new, useful and free things for musicians and producers in 2008. And one of them is Monthly Gear Giveaway!
Any chance you guys can sponsor our monthly competitions once in a while? It's early stages now but once we have a few hundred players on-board, it should make it worth your while.

      Let me know.

      Thanks ?

I love you site too! I'm about to make my first order in a few days. A Boss OS-2 for my B-Day!
I must say, my tune has changed. Muz.co.za hasn't replied to me at all (not even in private) and only seem to come on here to promote themselves.

Hopefully they treat buyers better than they treat potential partners!
            7. Ad posts in the "Classifieds" section are only for secondhand goods being sold by individuals, not for retail outlets or new items.

does this only apply to classifieds?

surely muz should be paying you to advertise on GFSA? else they get free advertising and they won't even reply to posts, kind of weak on their part...they willing to use Norio's forum to advertise but they not even willing to reply to his posts/messages....really considering not ever using 'em for purchases now

if i were you norio,i'd lock this topic so people can read it and they can't advertise anymore
              Yeah, doesn't sound like a half-bad idea.

              Alan, whatcha think?
I say "KILL all the Spambots!!!"

This Is GFSAAAAAAA!....*stabs spambot with sword and throws it into bottomless pit*
does this only apply to classifieds?
Yes - because there is supposed to be no advertising at all on the rest of the forum. I often remove blatant ad posts and warn the member involved. It's usually their first time posting and an honest mistake, and some accept this and still become useful additions to our forum anyway.

I'm in favour of a complete ban on any (unpaid) commercial advertising anywhere on GFSA. The one "exception" at the moment is posts of specials lists and sales, etc., which do benefit us all, but I feel leaves a bit of a loophole - in fact the entire "SA music sites" board has long been a worry for me (and the "Sites" one). While these boards give us the opportunity to post links to good sites, they give the impression that we will allow ad posts for sites in these boards.

Locking the thread serves only to close the barn door after the horse has left and stops our members from commenting.

So what I would suggest is removing both "Sites" and "SA music sites". Delete one or two more blatant ad threads like this one (although to be fair: Muz started this thread before we put together the rules) and move the rest of the content to the "general discussion" board.

I will see about giving commercial advertising top billing in the rules and spell things out a bit clearer and more in depth (oh goodie - something else to do). Norio - is there a way to incorporate the rules in the confirmation email sent to new members? Or maybe just a link? Then there can be no excuse from new members. I can also send the rules out in a special newsletter to cover the existing members that only come here to post.

                    Alan, whatcha think?
You could be on the slippery slope here. Allow this and then every Tom, Dick or Harriet with an on-line store (or on-line scam) will be wanting to advertise their services here.
I hear you Alan and I feel you're right. For sites like Muz.co.za (and ALL the others), they can EITHER advertise or submit their site for manual inclusion into a link-directory which I will personally moderate.

Whatcha think? You suggested something along these lines a while ago and it makes sense to do it now, methinks.

I won't lie, I've been naive about certain things but I'm learning as we go along ?
That sounds great! I suppose what would be ideal is a link list that site owners can add their sites to, but that require approval.

No harm in giving people the benefit of the doubt BTW, but sadly there are often a few that will mess things up for others.
Cool, then that's what we'll do. We can leave these in place, for now, so that I can add them in once the directory goes live.

The bonus of this new directory will be the ability to rate and review sites. That should make it a bit more valuable (to us), so we can see who's really delivering on service and who's just tryna make a quick buck.
sounds like a really good idea, especially the rating the sites idea...

do you guys (norio and alan) think maybe even setting up a donating service/page for GFSA so that people using the site can donate money to you guys to help you with running costs, etc would be a good idea?that way you can get money to help you run the site and people don't feel like they are paying a "subscription" to use the site as they can give money at their own free will and when they have some extra cash....

                            just a thought....
Nice idea Wezz. Someone PMed me with the same sort of idea as well. I'm very open to it but we need to get some other stuff out of the way first but I think we'll do that one in the new year.

                              Thanks ?
+1 to Wezz - time to tighten the rule belts and put on the dominatrix outfits A & N ! ?

I find that phoning people is a great way of doing business, many people wont reply to a partnership offer on a forum, even in private message. I'm not the perfect businessmen, but that is one of the things that I had to learn the hard way.

I agree with you on this. A face to face meeting is even better if potential clients/partners are geographically close.
