Can a plectrum think for itself?

I'm getting quite frustrated, my plectrums seem to have the directional sense of a left sock, I loose them constantly >☹, I know there is a bunch of them lying around here somewhere 'cos they can't be anywhere else, but they just disappear ???, even if I flip around the whole room I never seem to find any of them again and my room is tidy... Does anyone else loose pics this much? (I lost 3 the past week) And if anyone have figured out where the hell they escape to please let me know 'cos I'm thinking of looking for them in the local pubs now... :goodtimes:

haha, @Tonedef: I think my plectrums would take the lighter on anyday ?
Another mistery of life, plectrums disappear when they shouldn't, condoms appear when they shouldn't...
I found one again yesterday ? , plectrum that is, after flipping everything upside-down again and packed it back in its place I left the room and when I came back there was one lying smack in the middle on my bed :-\

Thats what happens when you let your plecs see that you have condoms. They wind up laying on your bed, breathless with anticipation.

I have another theory after you've mentioned the Russians, they are planning a nuclear attack on us so they can get hold if our resources and they are using plectums to invade our homes and spy on us! This calls for emergency procedure, everybody send all their plectrums to me immediately, I'll gradually dispose of them and the threat alike...

I reckon a plectrum can make for a lethal flechette-like projectile if you impart enough spin and momentum.

I got my first guitar in 2008, a bullet strat....when I bought the guitar it came with a plectrum...i still have that plectrum ?

(it was missing for a month, but i found it today on my bedroom table, was just underneath an alarm clock i dont use anymore ? )

? I enjoyed reading all the posts.
I usually keep all my plectrums in a little metal box (like the ones you get mints in), which then goes onto a shelf in my study. This works pretty well for me.
Occassionally though they have a tendency to disappear right in front of my eyes. Mostly happens when i'm busy changing strings/setting intonation or some such maintenance work (having floyd rose equipped guitars, it tends to take time).

I usually keep mine in a little cardbord box (courtesy of Nashua mobile) with my polish and cloth on my drawer chest, it is whenever I have to go do something that I put guit with plec down and plec takes advantage of potential escape...
How about starting magnetic plectrums, then you can stick it to your bridge (sorry acoustics) ?

I keep a little speck of prestik on the face of the axe, its handy for quick temporary guitar set-downs and is less hassle than sticking it between the strings every time. I do use the strings if im stopping for the night, tho.

oh absolutely. i used to have a thing for jim dunlop 1mm stubbies, and some idiot had the notion that making them clear would be fun. i must have lost enough of those things to build a whole new pyramid on giza. so now, i use only tortoise-shell coloured picks. most of the places i keep mine have already been covered - wallet, pick holder, etc.

but yeah, they definitely do have a mind of their own.

I use to do that on my nylon but after a while the prestik goes hard and it falls of anyway :-\ , it worked for the while though.

I think my conclusion after all these inovative ideas that have been posted here is that:
They will find a way to escape the fury of the pic attack, no matter what imprisonment you might conjure for them
But discipline seems to be the moral of the story...
