I'm getting quite frustrated, my plectrums seem to have the directional sense of a left sock, I loose them constantly >☹, I know there is a bunch of them lying around here somewhere 'cos they can't be anywhere else, but they just disappear ???, even if I flip around the whole room I never seem to find any of them again and my room is tidy...
Does anyone else loose pics this much? (I lost 3 the past week)
And if anyone have figured out where the hell they escape to please let me know 'cos I'm thinking of looking for them in the local pubs now... :goodtimes:

Yes, I think we've all had this
My friends JeanF and I had a theory, that what's happening is that our domestic workers are stealing our plectrums and kettle plugs (those always go missing too?) and are starting their own rock bands
Speculation on names?
What I use is a cheap plectrum holder - Think you can get a Dunlop one for R20? and it has double stick take on it, so you can stick it on your guitar
My Mono-comfort strap has a plectrum pocket in it that I use for some spares as well
---mario---
haha, I've also started to suspect the DW... but I thought she'd rather use them for fake nails or jewelry or something. Yeah, I know about those holders, I just forget take one each time I go to a shop, I get distracted pretty easily.
Speaking about kettle cords... I use to loose PC power cords constantly until I found out that old kettle cords are a perfect fit ??? , we may have a syndicate on our hands...

here's a couple of tips that help me :-
Keep a plectrum in your wallet.
Stick a plectrum between your strings.
If its an acoustic, chuck it inside the sound hole... ?
---mario---
haha, I've done all of those, wallet got pinched 2 weeks back... Between strings is what I usually do, but sumtimes I chuck one on my desk and 5min later when I check, its gone and it takes too long for me to get it out of the acoustic again if I chuck one in there.
Nano technology have improved beyond my capabilities of containing the little critters, time to put them on leashes.
No I'm gona just get one of those holders as Louis mentioned, I'd just really like to know how it is impossible to find them again, as brightly coloured as they are, especially if they can't be far

Trick is - buy a bunch so by the time you lose the last ones, you find the first ones.
Wizard
Have ONE and only ONE place that your plectrum is allowed to live.
When you want to play, go fetch it from that ONE place.
When you are finished playing, put it back in that ONE place.
You will suddenly only need ONE plectrum ... forever.
(It will never get lost again)

if all else fails.............check inside your washing machine ?
(or that is were mine ends up on its way to another dimention)

that's what I'm aiming at, but how much is enough? A refuse bag full, I'm sure I'll always have one handy then ?

hmmmm, discipline... I should put them back in the box after playing shouldn't I, poor other pics must be terrified to death of me after all their mates got kidnapped ☹

yeah, I remember while still living with my parents, mom not that impressed at all sometimes...

be aware too the the common couch cushion is a professional plectrum thief,,, leave your guitar unattended for a moment, and whooosh,,, thats your plectrum gone ☹ ? ?

@CostaFonix, I hear you on that ? (sneaks away and inspects couches)

Ok this idea only just dawned on me now while reading this thread but i think its pretty good ?
Punch a hole in your pick and then just tie the pick to your strap knobs...not sure how well it'll work in terms of the string getting in the way of playing or getting caught on things, but its an idea ? Thought i just keep mine between the strings and its fine ?

I did the same with my picks as I did with my warhammer dice. Line them up in a semicircle, then choose one at random. While I consign the hapless 'volunteer' to the flames (courtesy of bic), I preach to the others in my most fearsome political kommissar voice about the futility of desertion and the consequences of disloyalty to Mother Russia.

I used to keep one in my wallet, right next to a condom, till one day some girl at college asked to borrow a plectrum, and had to take the condom out first to get to it
She misunderstood, and was not impressed
since then I just have millions everywhere
and luckily my college sells a wide variety for quite cheap

Absoloodely. I lose plectrums all the time at home. I never lose them playing live because the thing is going to be in one of two places - in my right hand or in my shirt pocket.
Mind you, I started playing with a thumb pick when playing finger style, so said pocket is starting to get crowded. But the principle is a good one generally - a place for everything and everything in it's place. Also keeps things slick. You want a pick or a capo or whatever and you KNOW where you can find it and so will find it quickly.
