Still going strong. I have an Emerald/Silver /Purple set in one of my strats and I think they sound great. I am geting a bit tired of the look though...
They would have seemed to be everywhere in the 90's because Fender used them on a few of their models. Also not a lot of competition in the noiseless pup markete back then. Fender have since ventured into the noiseless market themselves and aren't using them anymore, even the Clapton signature strat is now using Fender Vintage Noiseless (I think) pickups.
