Anyone know anything about this unit? Normally I would assume its a slightly cheaper version of the GT-6 and assume it to still be decent but what makes me wonder is...theres 1 of gumtree for R500...which is either fishy, or the unit is really not great, or the seller knows nothing of the value of his pedal...
Boss GT-5
GT-8's canbe found for R2000, so maybe not far off with the price.Kalcium wrote: Anyone know anything about this unit? But if 1/4 of the price means 1/4 of the quality, then its useless...Essentially I'd think maybe I'd like a gt-8/gt-6 so Im not looking for something that will sound like a zoom 606 ?

I bought a GT-8 in 2005 for R3500. It is probably currently worth R2000 - it is outdated in the GT line (that's not to say it doesn't still have its uses) and other units have superseded it in specs and tones. For that price, if it's in decent nick, still quite a lot of bang for buck. It's not like Boss did a complete overhaul of everything from model to model.
That's about right for a GT5. It's not exactly the latest technology.
I had a GT-5 for many years and while it's not new technology, you can dial in some pretty sweet tone from those pedals.. They are much better than any zoom products out right now.
If someone is looking for a multi effects for cheap, I'd say get that! You won't get a signal distortion box for that much ?
