Hi Guys,

What is the general consensus on this keyboard?
I know to stay away from Casio! So i wont even look at one!

The SO is looking for a plain and simple keyboard, nothing fancy!
I still think it should have some reliability and quality to it though!

Budget is around R2500 at a stretch... So more along the lines of R2000.

and this can be found for R2200!

Opinions / suggestions / advice please...

If money was no object, then a Roland E-09 it would have been for something better, but ja, unfortunately there are budgets and expenses etc.

Thanks!

Okay, so after some searching on take2 usa, i found it for R1345. MUCH cheaper!

Is there anything to keep in mind though going this route? other than the month waiting time?
It looks like it doesn't come with the power supply anyway and that it needs to be purchased separately, so we could probably buy that here right?!
Or just run it on rechargeable batteries!
For the money you're spending, rather buy locally, for better support.

I don't know the model personally, but I have a PSR-500 which I use for various things: mostly for MIDI stuff and recording at the moment.

Yamaha make very good, reliable stuff at this sort of level, and the model you're looking at is probably good enough for basic piano stuff. What is she going to be using it for? If it's to interface with a DAW, make sure it supports standard MIDI interfaces and make sure to price in the cost of the connectors.

If it's just to pound around with basic piano stuff it's probably fine. More serious players will want proper weighted keys at some point (which feel much more like the real thing) but as long as the keys are velocity sensitive you should be fine (I think they pretty much all are these days).

        Necro... :-[

        Bought Mika's keyboard...
sure its a casio, but after only paying R300 for it, and it was still, is still, in great condition, does the job!
so i saved around R2000, if not more! what a great buy!
plus, it has the features of the PSR E323, which is closer to R4000!

So im a happy chappy! maybe it was wrong to knock Casio :-[
