GFSA 1st Birthday Competition

We're running a competition to celebrate our 1st year of rocking in the forum! It's simple... 1. Record your OWN version of Happy Birthday (can be fusion, jazz, metal, punk, whatever!) 2. Upload it to the web using our funky new uploader tool thingie. 3. Create a new topic under "Recordings" and link to your recording and also upload some pics of you playing guitar. 4. I'll then turn your MP3 + pics into a video for YouTube so we can get more hits. If you want to make your OWN video, go ahead, it saves me time and will probably look a whole lot better! If you can record yourself playing your recording, that'd be the best! Just remember, you HAVE to put www.MarshallMusic.co.za AND www.GuitarForum.co.za at the beginning and end of your video. That's part of our deal with Marshall! If I'm doing the video for you, don't worry I'll add that in myself ? 5. We'll then put it to the vote and announce the winners at the end of October. It's that easy, so GET RECORDING! ? Prizes... Stuart (bless his soul) at Marshall Music has organised us the following prizes... 1st Prize: Digitech Grunge Distortion pedal (worth R795), plus a set of strings. 2nd Prize: 40%-50% off (depending on supplier) on any purchase over R500, plus a set of strings. 3 Runners-Up: Dean Markley strings, Martin strings, Kyser capos, Warwick rock cables. The winners will be decided by YOUR votes. Get recording already!

I'm battling to upload. Uploading the vid on Youtube and the Mp3 on GFSA but it doesn't seem to be making any progress.

If I don't come right by lets say 2pm, I'm going to have to find alternative means... bummer.

I sat in studio the whole day today (Monday) literally, just recording this song... two weeks worth of recording in 12 hours! I think my eyes are square lol

...would suck if it was for nothing.

Entries close at midnight today. If you can help out by making a basic video of your recording, then I'll accept something a tad later ?

Spyke, email me your vid and YouTube login details and I'll upload it for you. You can always change your password temporarily if you don't want me to know it ?

Norio, is it a problem if I can't make a video? Dont have the software or knowhow... and when do we need to post our pics etc by? Sorry for all the questions ?

Nope, no problem if you can't do a video. I'll put one together for people who can't do that part. Just as long as you post at least one pic of yourself to go with the video so people can see who's playing the song!

It's piss-easy to do with Windows MovieMaker which you get free with Windows XP...

You just import your video clip and then add a caption-clip (of say 2 seconds) to the front, with the URLs, etc, and then the same clip at the end. I reckon it should take a few minutes, tops.

Hey Norio I just wanted to ask something about your second prize. It says ANY purchase, so does that means I can get 40-50% off on a 30 k amp or 50 k guitar AND a pack of strings lol had I won 2nd place?? ?

And does "Depending on Supplier" imply; what is in stock or what the supplier chooses is over-the-top?

Probably the latter but, again, speak to Stu! I'll put the winners in contact with him after the comp is over.

Movie Maker freezes on both my PC's.
The Uploader gives me:
"Upload a Recording
Something went wrong while uploading your file, please try again later. " lol I literally don't have a "later" as I'm late for a meeting.
???
