transformer placement
makepeace
I have a question based largely in theory. Say your amp has a power transformer, output transformer and a choke. Each of these is made out of a coil, or coils, and some iron. When current runs through a coil, it creates a magnetic field, which is not necessarily of constant magnitude. A changing magnetic field will induce a current in a wire.
My sub question is: is the magnetic field created by each transformer/choke strong enough to have an influence on the others with respect to electromagnetic induction?
Hence my actual question: is the placement of power and output transformers and chokes important to take into consideration when designing an amp? Or can you put them wherever?
Cheers

I'm no expert, but I've been told placement does have an effect on tone. Dumble said the placement of every single component has an effect.

Buddy I'm on my phone but check the faq on ax84 (I think that's it yes?) For the headphone trick. Its worth the effort on a little circut like that.

Read that faq on ax84. Bloody good idea. Will try it out when I have everything together. Shot!

The rule on transformer placement is the following:
If you do not want interference, all the transformers should be placed in a straight line (centers aligned) at 90 degrees angles to each other. See this picture:

Awesome. Thanks Karel.
