Oky, so I got a very random trade offer from a guy that knows a guy that I happen to play with on occasion.
So this guy wants a orange AD30 head....and he can't find one, and he doesn't do the importing thing...
He offered me a trade for a VOX AC30 heritage handwired head for the AD30...
Firstly,I LOVE the AD30,but iv always really liked AC30's and yea...
So, a couple of questions,I have played on a brian may vox,and a couple ac30's from the custom classics range...how do they compare to the Handwired heritage, I have watched a couple of demos, but yea...I'd prefer some first hand experience advice...coz the thing is, I can go and play it....but its like a 800km trip there and back...witch I'll be prepared to make to go try it out depending on what your opinions and my ongoing youtubing reveals....
O and I'll be playing the head into a orange ppc212 cab with a celestion gold and a vintage 30 in...witch I'll have to lug with me all the way there if I decide to go try it out....orange cabs weigh the equivalent of a small baby elephant...
Thanx a lot guys ?

My gut reaction is if you love what you have, why look at trading it away?
Don't get me wrong, I love the Vox Hand Wired amps - I owned an AC15HW for a few years (and occasionally still miss it), but they are different animals from the Orange amps and will take your sound in a different direction. So I suppose you have to investigate a bit, play a classic Vox AC30 and try it at a gig (the HW can be compared to the classic Vox AC30s, just a well thought out modern take on the theme). Then decide if it's the direction you want to take.
Another thing to consider - for the true AC 30 experience, you do need a pair of Celestion Blues, which are as expensive as guitar speakers get. So even if it's long-term plan, you have to plan on spending a lot more money to get the best out of the Vox.

Yea,I read about the Celestion Blues thing....people are going so far as to say the modern vox's are voices specifically to go with the Blues ...point being its important...
I'm very happy with the orange, but there's always this idea of maybe being even more happy with another amp....but yea...think I'll try to track a old one down and take it for a go...and then make the call...if I can't find a old one I'll just give it a skip...
Thanx for the advice man
