What are your opinions on the Rock Bass by Warwick?

That's great!
I have a Rock Bass that my bassist plays in the band.
I have been tinkering with it on and off.
Nice to know that most of you think they are pretty awsome!
Bought it for R 3000 two years ago.

I have the Rockbass Corvette $$ 5-str. Double humbucker pickups in the sweet spot. I also own a Cort, Ibanez BTB, Hohner and a 5-string homebuilt fretless.
I almost exlusively play the Rockbass and my homebuilt. The Rock bass is powerfull on all the strings (most 5str basses have a weaker B string due to tension issues), and has a very distinct woody sound. I love that it sounds sop clear, yet strong. It does not have a hint of muddiness anywhere. I also love that I can hear the theory of tone being in the fingers in action on this, I can make it boom, and then get an almost fretless sound with just a change in the way I use my fingers on the right hand.
They also use the same parts (except for the pickups) and hardware as the German Warwicks. Pickups are MEC,and they have active and passive basses. The necks are super thin, with string spacing at 16mm, but all models also have a wider string spacing(18mm) available. The 2010 models with the W on the headstock have had some major changes to previous models, mostly around the neck and hardware.
I will only upgrade it to a German Warwick $$, or maybe an Ernie Ball Musicman. A friend has the Fender J5, I did not enjoy it. The B just sounded weaker, but the action was great.
One word of advice though...they are generally not set up well out of the factory, so you would need to get it set up. They do set-up very nicely though.
Hope it helps.

In terms of Fender 5 strings, the best I've come across (and I know a lot of people agree) is the Marcus Miller V, 5 string Jazz

The Rock Bass is the ultimate for me! Beautiful clear sound and lovely to handle.

dude, i own the German Corvette $$ 4 string. (sick ass bass) and the newer rock basses that i've played are right up there, maybe not as versatile, but they do sound pretty damn good. Don't go for one of the older ones they arent as good imo, but the newer ones are fantastic.
