The number of people who cancelled gigs or even tours or walked out on their band is... large. Joni Mitchell is included in that number but I never hear anybody suggesting she's an asshole. Gary Moore walked out of Thin Lizzy mid-tour and they had to play some gigs as a three piece.
Axl does seem to provoke these kinds of reactions - but I think it's unfair. Though if I'd shelled out for a ticket and then some rock god or other pulled the plug on the show I might be a bit acidic about it.
