  • Apologies for the duplicate post, I've been trying to add images.

Hi, I'm moving to the Netherlands and have a whole lot of equipment that I need to get rid of since I'm not buying a container to move. All prices are negotiable within reason.

Epiphone Les Paul Studio + Hard Case (Nick on the headstock, Seymour Duncan Slash Signature Pickups + Original Pickups) - R 5000

    Crafter GAE/15N Electro Accoustic + Gig Bag - R 5000

Hughes And Kettner 25th Edition Tube (Needs Service) - R 5000

Electro Harmonix Black Finger Compressor - R 1500

    Vox Satchurator - R 1000

    Electro Harmonix Nano Clone - R 500

    Ibanez TS7 - R 500

    Danelectro Fab Delay - R 500

    Apple Macbook Pro 15 Retina 16GB Ram 512 GB Solid State Drive (2014) - R 18 000

I'm based in Pretoria, but shipping can be arranged.

    • Great, thanks Norio.

I'll have to create a new post, since I can't edit the current one.

      • My advice is to drop the modelling kit. I have a gt8 which I used with a crate amp and I could never get tone I really liked. Now I've starred over with a simple hughes and kettner 25th anniversary tube and decent pedals.

What I've found is that instead of trying to model a bands sound I've got my own voice in which to play the songs I've always loved.

        • I think our players had it right when they said the easiest easy to win the cup is to win 7 games in a row. I would be more disappointed if we threw a game than if we lost playing oz or new zealand.

Besides, on any given night our boys can beat any team in the world. Lets not forget that our rusty team beat the new zealanders in pe not 2 months ago.

Have some faith and let the boys play their best rugby. Anything less means we don't deserve to be there.

          • I'm running it, there's not a hell of a lot of difference in speed from what I can see. Some annoying additions though.

              • Hi Norman,

When I was looking around for a cheapish tube amp I looked at the bugera amps. The reason I never bought one is that all the people I know who have one made great use of the warranty. Not actually having the amp you paid for is a bit of a downer even if they fix it under warranty.

Obviously this is not true for all unknown brands but it is part of the reason people stick to names they know.

                In fairness though, I bought a hughes & kettner. I couldn't afford a boogie express. ?

                • Will do Norman, I was wondering if it would be worthwhile to get the guitar setup properly at the same time. It's an epi les paul studio, so the difference in pickups should (hopefully) be quite marked. I can't wait to hear it.
                  • Just got a set of seymour duncan slash signature pickups. Can't wait to put them in and see how they sound.

Synesthesia requires you to hear the music. In technical terms it is basically a crossed line on the neural pathways which lets the aural stimulus appear as visual hallucinations. It is fun though, I used to get it a lot when I took acid.

                      • My advice is to go to a couple of the big shops and play different guitars until you find the basic construction that you like, then start looking at the range to see finishes etc. Shops I use for this are toms, Marshall music and music connection because they normally have a decent range of guitars.

                            • Hi Kiera,

as far as I know there is no duty, I just wanted to illustrate that even at the worst case scenario you can beat the prices we get quoted here. And that is even taking into account the fact that you are paying for air shipping over sea.

It's no effort for me at all, like I said; I do this all the time.
                              • Hi Kiera,

I generally have a problem with the prices we get charged for everything from cd's to books to bikes and especially musical equipment so I tend to order online. I just had a look at sweetwater.com who I used to order my Boss Micro BR and I got the following quote which includes shipping the amp to me in Pretoria. I really can vouch for the service of these guys, the only complication being that you will need to verify your bank account details via fax or email if I remember correctly. PM me if you'd like more details. Please note the rand values are calculated at the current rate by a plugin on my machine so the rate they use might vary by a a few cents.

I really do believe that the supply chain in South Africa needs to get a good shakeup and so I refuse to buy big ticket items here. I just ordered a set of Slash signature seymour duncan pickups from tonefactor at half the price of what they are here as well and with shipping. There is just no contest.

Edit: forgot to add, you will still need to add VAT and I'm not sure what the import duties are on amps. If they are at 30% then your total is 12 395.44
                                • I wanted to be a programmer since I was about 14. Now I'm the head of innovation for a small software development house and loving it. I learn something new every day, spend time with people smarter than me and earn a decent wage for doing it. That lets me buy nice music gear and go riding every day after work. With this plus family, what more could a man ask for.

                                  • I would look around for awhile and see about a used tube amp. I picked up a used Hughes & kettner edition tube for 4900 and it blows the socks off of any solid state I've played. My playing has also improved a lot. Now I have a gt8 which is used for switching channels and adding delay. Maybe a bit overkill but hey. ?

                                    • Hey Kalcium, I was looking at the v22 a while ago. What put me off is the guys at music connection saying they had a fair portion of them coming back for warranty repairs. In the end I bought a used Hughes and kettner edition tube for just under 5.
