Not sure if you're still seeking advice in this regard, but for me an exemplary album to listen to for writing 2nd guitar parts is Guns N' Roses' Appetite for Destruction. Slash is panned hard right, Izzy Stradlin' is panned hard left. Two very different styles, playing variations on the main chord progressions, that "weave" together perfectly.
- Lefty guitars are like hens' teeth on a headless chicken. In PE in 2007 I picked up a lefty 40th Anniversary USA Strat '94 from Cape Town via Gumtree. It was a two-tone tobacco burst, maple fret board, with matching tweed Fender hard case with orange crush interior. Played and sounded like a dream. Price: R5000.
4 years later, I sold it to raise cash for a plane ticket to some guy in Cape Town via Gumtree for R10 000. It was a great trip, but I've regretted the sale ever since... - Haha, thanks but no, I have two MIMs I am very happy with! Good luck with the sale
- I sold my lefty tobacco-burst USA strat with matching hard case in 2010 for 10k, so I think your asking price is fair ?
- ...and for only twice the price ?
- Hi! If you have a DigiTech Bad Monkey you're not using and would consider selling, please PM me with a price. Thanks!
- Thanks Stoffeltoo, much appreciated!
- Hi All,
I recently acquired a Boss GT-10, and have noticed that there is a lag when I switch between patches:
When I stomp a pedal switch there is a micro-second of silence between the original patch and the newly selected patch.
I have noticed that the lag is of varying duration depending on the patches selected, but there doesn't seem to be a relationship between the number of effects engaged in a particular patch and the delay in loading said patch.
Has anyone heard of, or experienced, this issue with the GT-10? Any feedback would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Warren - In GreetingsThanks Warren, and back at ya!
Yeah Wern, it's a bugger playing left. I was encouraged to start right back in the day, but Kurt Cobain was a big deal back then - had I known what a schlepp it would be down the line... Will definitely check out the compos - In GreetingsThanks studmissile & MikeBodd! Having read a few intros prior to posting, I gathered that pics were non-negotiable, and so the line-up ?
Stoffeltoo - haha, if only! Lefty guitars are pretty hard to come by, new or 2nd-hand, and last year these 2 doppelgangers came up within a few months of each other - sheer coincidence. Ideally I'd have 1 strat and 1 SG (preferably white or green).
Pirate - thanks for the heads-up - I'll be sure to check out that section.
DaFizz - cheers! I've been playing the sandburst one (a.k.a. Brown Sugar) since 2003, and got the backup (Blondie) a few years ago. Blondie is higher spec and more comfortable to play, having a thinner neck, but Brown Sugar's tone is the better of the two. - In GreetingsHi All, I'm a lefty singer-strummer-songwriter based in Midrand, glad to be here! I mostly play acoustic (Yamaha APX-5LA & APX700), and I have a pair of bog-standard Mexican Strats ('02 and '10). Amp and FX-wise I jam through a Boss GT-10 into a Cube 30 or through a Line 6 Toneport UX2, mainly when doing home recordings. Mics include my trusty SM58 and an SE 2200 A condenser. I have pretty good rhythm chops, but no lead skills to speak of. Looking forward to meeting some musos here and hopefully hooking up with some with a view to jamming some originals in an opening slot on a wobbly stage in the not-too-distant future!
