I'm turning 29 in Feb and 17kHz is the last one I can hear.

Edit:

Cranking the speakers up all the way (Logitech 2.1 computer thingies) I can hear 18kHz. The higher ones make a lower tone!? Prob some weird aliasing effect somewhere...

I can hear up to 20 on my laptop speakers, with headphones on I can hear them all.. Hard to hear such a high pitch without noise cancelling headphones ?

i tested it in the studio the other day to check if i'm still fine.

i can hear up to 18khz , 22 years old.

I tell you, that noise drives me up the wall! My parents always switch the TV onto standby instead of turning it off, so it continues to emit that squeal. I hear it as soon as I walk into the house and go switch off the TV.

Funny thing however, I struggle to hear people talking to me at the table in restaurants ??? :-\

I peaked at like 17khz. I'm 20 :\ Makes sense though, massacred my ears a couple of years back. I can hear the ringing TV's make though.

I can only just make out 16Khz with my speakers on full, I'm 28. I do have a constant ringing in my ears too :-[

I have just discovered the pitch of my Tinnitus around 16khz making it impossible to identify frequencies higher than that on the possitive side if I get any deafer my tinnitus will go away. It has been at least 20 years since I noticed the squeal of a TV set, I just thought they had made them better ☹

16KHz and I'm 32, I suspect my overclocked PC's vacuum cleaner sounding fan skewed the results a bit though. My wife always complains though that my hearing is b*ggered.

I'm 42 and I can hear them all with my laptop cranked up fully via headphones.

I did the test in my office where there's constant background noise coming from server/cabinet fans. I used small shox speakers.

I battled a bit to hear 18kHz with the background noise, but otherwise I can hear all of them. I'm 38.

Part of the problem for some of you might be the frequency response of your computer speakers (many don't have dedicated high-frequency drivers) rather than your own hearing.

Decent headphones tend to reproduce more highs, making the highs more easily discernible, especially if you crank them up and hold them away from your ears - like in your lap with the ear cups pointing up. Some recording engineers use cans in this way to see if there are any problem high frequencies in their mix they might not have noticed through their monitors. Give that a try for the really high frequencies.

On the other hand, hearing sensitivity does diminish in the higher frequencies as you get older (anywhere past 8 years old), especially in guys.
