Tokai Strat Advice

Hey all,
It's been a while since I last posted hey, wow I feel like I've been away for years!!

Anyway, I've been keeping my eyes open for a secondhand tokai strat, I just wanted to know if anyone's seen any of em anywhere?

What do they go for?

I've been playin with a friend's Mex strat and I'm loving it! I think a decent tokai would be on par with a US Strat in terms of quality and sound?

I'm just testing the waters here, but if one came along at the right price............ Lol

The problem is that the older Tokais only sold in SA for a brief time, and are probably pretty rare. The new ones have only been available in SA since earlier this year - so it's pretty unlikely that many of them have entered the market yet.

I haven't played the Strats yet, but I've been informed by some non-partisan sources that they are excellent Strats. Tokai was making MIJ Fenders for the last 7 years or so, so the rumour is that they had something to prove when they went back to producing them under their own name. Showing that they were holding back ?

Some of the new ones are not terribly expensive and available in a few places in Jo'burg. More expensive than a 2nd hand MIM Fender though, naturally.

I'm sure they'll begin to be available 2nd hand in the next two years or so.

i hada good look at a tokai strat and i must say i was mightily impressed with the quality, buildmanship an materials used ,its a classy piece of kit finished en klaar.... unfortunaltey they were not available in left handed format so opted for a fender that was in lefty configuration....

guitar world had a tokai strat a while ago , beutiful sunburst ..nto sure thye still have it and i think list price was 8k ..a lil more than a mim strat and less than a mia strat .....

Now that you have gas, it's time to drive ?

If you do do a comparison between the various Fender options and the Tokais, I'd love to hear your impressions.

I played one for the first time today, and minus the piddly strings, it was AWESOME! I love that neck pickup...ooohhhhhhh. I found it a bit in the lack of quack, but made up for it with that neck pickup. Fit and finish was exemplary, and the set up perfect.
