GE-7 Mod?

I just bought a GE-7 today for R400 (pretty damn good if you ask me), anyway, I dont intend on using untill I have it modded out, Ive done extensive research, and I found that once the GE-7 has some good modded components in it, it potentially outranks most of the Graphic Equalizers out there. So my question is, what mod?

I wanted the Sniper Mod, which seems very popular, but apparently the guy that does that, is no longer in the business.
So I considered Monte Allum, I already have his modded CE-2 and its great, but how different is his Modded GE-7 to the sniper mod?

What other alternative good mods are there? and how do I get ahold of them? (including the Monte Allum)

I'm also interested here as I'm looking at using two Modified GE-7's on my new pedalboard.

Tonally the GE-7 is pretty good in stock format, but it's horribly hissy and noisy and has the usual lackluster boss buffered bypass. The Monte Allums mods are both good at fixing this and have the advantage of being kits. They are still active bypass though. Humphrey Audio (Mark Humphrey) also do a great upgrade, but that's not kit form.

I'd probably speak to Matt first though. Easy to upgrade the components to improve the noise specs and he can fit one of those true bypass modules too.

Seems like the mods are relatively straight forward (to me anyway).

Not too worried about the bypass as I'll be running them on two loops through a Boss LS-2.

One will sit on a OD loop and the second on a Distortion/Fuzz Loop.

Yeah, they are pretty straightforward if you have a bit of electronic know-how. And you do... ? Mostly just a case of upgrading the components that are there for better quality versions.

Monte Allums actually seems pretty kick ass the more I read about it, on an side note, something I read from his site that contradicts what you say Alan (about the true bypass)

"cannot add True Bypass to your Boss pedals. There's just not enough room inside Boss pedals to add the needed switch circuit. If you must have True Bypass let me suggest one of the Bypass Loopers"

I am no whiz kid with electronics nor soldering (dont even own one) but I intend to get one soon and practice. Will I be able to easily mod this myself should I get the Monte Allums one?

If it's your first time modding, a kit takes all the guesswork and experimentation out of it and you have a much higher chance of success.
