While it is just a strat with an upside headstock it is a real Jimi model, has his face on the neck plate etc so should at least increase in value over time. Ive always wanted a normal strat with a reverse headstock, just cos 8)
Fair enough on the reverse headstock. I think they look cool. But I'm not sure if every "collectible" guitar that a company brings out becomes collectible. You might be right, but I'm not entirely convinced this will increase that much in value.
Now the clones that they referred to. They only made 4 of what is one of the most valuable guitars ever sold. And apparently one sold for $11,000. Now I don't think that's so much for such a desirable guitar made in such small numbers. I reckon those 4 people are gonna score when they sell those - unless someone makes more clones of course ?
But it's kinda funny too, because Jimmy basically bought strats all the time, had his tech swing the strings over, adjust the pickups and the vibrato arm, didn't he? They're basically just a big variety of stock Stratocasters. I wonder how many other white '68s are out there. 'Cos those would be the real "equivalents," and yet may not be as valuable as a '62.
