Best acoustic pickup under R600?

My forum-shy buddy who won the Baby Taylor is using it as his main guitar after going acoustic (you can catch him swinging it at the Barlycorn tonight at the Villager's club in Lansdown road Claremont with his band Fezray) and he needs a better pickup than the crappy one he's borrowing.

Does anyone have a recommendation for something under R600? I know little of this "acoustic" business. ?

Hey you know, I dont know really. Try a mag soundhole pickup maybe? I've got a SD Humbucker and it's OK. but more than 600. Then the K&K pure western might come in low but without preamp. Take a look here maybe:

You've got the Dean Markley piezo (what's it called again?) coming in at about R500 which has quite a bit of output so you might skimp on the preamp. A lot of bang for your buck. Marshall sells 'em.

There was a seller in the classifieds selling a banged up Ibanez artwood for R500 a little while back. I contemplated buying it and asking him to only send me the tuners and pre-amp with pickup. I never did though, but if it's still available it might be worth it.
