Having one of the worst Gout Attacks I ever remember having.
Left Knee and right foot at the same time....Can't walk or drive at the moment..... >☹
Pain has been unbelievable and all could have been avoided if the doctor had prescribed pro-boitics with my antibiotics prescribed for my bout of bronchitis.
Doctor knew that I was a gout sufferer and did not take preventative measures.... >☹ >☹
Slowly getting better.....right foot is almost normal but the left knee has taken a serious pounding..... ☹

Man you just need some of this stuff I was on in hospital, called morphine ? Makes you feel better and kinda hazes your memory :?
Hope you get better soon, and stay away from tomatoes ?
TomCat
LOL.....I've been taking Turmeric powder mixed with honey. Definitely an acquired taste...... ☹
Funnily enough....it seems to be tasting better lately......I just fear farting yellow dust clouds..... ? ?
inflames
Hectic Tom, that really sucks!
Good luck on the recovery, and stay off the red wine, apparently it is a big contributor!

Tom...rush down to your pharmacy and get one Voltarin suppository (200mg)...you know what to do with this hey.. and a packet of Diclohexal (50mg tabs) and take one of these as well with plenty of water on a full stomach. (I take it you don't suffer from stomach and intestinal ailments such as ulcers and that you're not diabetic.
Tomorrow morning you'll be fine. ?
TomCat
Thanks Vic....Unfortunately I'm allergic to Voltarin so I can't go that route....... :'(
@ Inflames......I don't even drink red wine.......I'm just unfortunately predisposed to acute gout attacks......really sux.....

gout is a mofo..worse than childbirth i reckon..
commiserations man ....from a fellow sufferer....
Squonk
Sympathy for you Tom
A fellow sufferer, and the last couple of times, no prescribed medication would work, Cataflam or the more stronger anti inflamatory drugs.
I had to have a voltarin shot and even then it was hours before it subsided.
It's a type of pain that you have to experience first hand before understanding it. Like having toothache but 64 times worse! ☹

+10000.......It is a pain that cannot be described.....although you analogy is a good one....
I've had three knee operations because of gout and it looks like I might be heading for operation number 4 if things don't improve soon.

I have no advice but want to register empathy, sympathy and commiserations. Truly sucks...

No you can't! Unless you've experienced it firsthand, you can't imagine. ? I get it from time to time in the joints where my big toe joins my foot. I can equate the feeling as similar to if you held a brick at shoulder height and dropped it on your toe. ☹

Puricos is about the only hope we have against this damn ailment. It's caused by metabolic disorder/s. Even taking in to much starch can precipitate an attack.
But one thing I've discovered is that when I'm under stress, or there are things worrying me, I'm a lot more prone to attacks.
I have given up alcohol, (and I use to enjoy my 6 packs hey !)I excercise regularly (well sort of... ?), I take puricos and lots of water everyday, BUT it's still no garauntee against attacks. And age and weight has nothing to do with it....we can only pray ! ?

well i have taken it up a notch and today received a blood uric acid monitor i ordered. So now i am going to document what i eat and the results on the uric acid levels in my blood the next morning. I am going to pinpoint the exact foods then refrain from them and hpoefully be able to discontinue the puicos at some point.
every morning , a small drop of blood onto the strip into the monitor and 30 seconds later i have an exact reading.
Watch thsi space ?

Its called the UA Sure kit. I ordered it from my local pharmacy (although can be gotten online too) Cost me 600 ront.
Essentailly you prick yr finger, spill a drop of blood onto a strip which gets anaylysed by the machine and gives a reading of the levels.
last night it was 6.2 which is within norms..this morning it was 14.2 !!! which is very high..... i am still setting up the benchmarks and possibly made an error hence the high reading but will check again tomorrow morning. I will start keeping a detailed spreadsheet of what i eat and drink on a daily basis as well.
