I've been threatening to do this for a while now and today I finally had some time! ?
You can now upload your recordings for free and post the link to the uploaded MP3(s) here. Coming soon, I'll add code to the forum that transforms your mp3 URL into a mp3-player automatically. That should happen in the next couple of weeks so start posting links in the meanwhile ?
Please test the upload form here:
http://up.www.guitarforum.co.za/
Rules/Help:
- By uploading files using this service, you give permission to GuitarForum.co.za and the people who run it to use your uploaded file(s) for forum-promotional purposes.
- Only audio files will be accepted. (MP3, WMA, OGG)
- Uploads are limited to 7Mb in size.
- You are limited to 1 upload a day.
- Only upload your music. No illegal music uploads. Violators of this rule will have uploads disabled for their account.
- Note: This service exists as a free-service to you. We need to limit our offer so that it remains affordable for us to maintain. If you believe the above limits are too restrictive, please make a reasonable suggestion here!

Cool man! Will test this out when I get some time to record again!

Hey Norio - I have tested this out a couple of times.
http://up.www.guitarforum.co.za/ takes me to ... "Upload a Recording - You must log in to use this.". I click on sign in and I get redirected to www.guitarforum.co.za. What am I doing wrong ? ☹
NorioDS
Hmmm, shit! Sorry man. What fixed that for me is to log OUT of the forum, and then in again. Please try that and let me know if you still don't come right.
Renesongs
I tried the logout story but as Hilary said to be Bill no cigar I'm afraid. ☹
NorioDS
Hmm, then if you don't mind, PM me your login details (you can change your PW first, so I don't know your original) and I'll test it from this side.
Also, what browser be you using? So I can test under a similar set of variables.
Renesongs
That could be problematic - I would have to stay off GFSA while you testing could get confusing. Has anyone else (non-administrator) got the thingie to work? BTW I'm using Firefox 3 under Windows XP I do have Ad and flash blocking plugins installed.
NorioDS
The ad- and flash- blocking shouldn't be a problem during the upload. The main problem is with cookies being set correctly. Perhaps I could trouble you to clear your GFSA cookies? Be warned, though, if you delete them all, you'll be logged out of all your regular sites.
Renesongs
No Luck I'm afraid I removed cookies and Firefox still got "Upload a Recording - You must log in to use this." Tried Chrome removed all cookies still got "Upload a Recording - You must log in to use this.". I take it I shouldn't be getting this screen because the words "log in" are a hyperlink to www.guitarforum.co.za
NorioDS
I just went there now and got the login screen. Came back here, logged out and logged in and now it works. Logging in at the forum sets your cookies. Those have to exist in order for the uploader to work. So, in Chrome, did you delete your cookies and THEN login to the forum before trying the uploader?
Manfred-Klose
I just uploaded something, did i do it correct way?
Can you move the link or make another one on the home page? or maby put it on the top of all the "Post reply", could be easier to share songs.
NorioDS
Manny, I just checked the database and it looks like it worked perfectly ? Thanks for being the first uploader! I feel a bit better knowing that it works for somebody other than me ?
I'll link to it in the top-menu or something like that, not sure.
Thanks for the suggestion!
Manfred-Klose
ok, so when it is uploaded i should copy the url into say the reply message maby.
And then when logged in it should direct you to the list of uploads, and then choose the one to download?
Renesongs
I deleted all my cookies and was logged out in chrome - Manny's upload indicates that something is wrong on my side probably some sort of user error I will try and debug him tonight I know he has a bit of a virus or a bad cold at least 8)
Edit : OK I think I got it now, not cookies or user error - developer error, he forgot to write a manual with pictures on how to do this - Try upload link, go to GFSA, Log off, Try Upload link, got to GFSA, Logon - Try upload link,Voi la !
AlanRatcliffe
Voi la !
Oy Vey! is more like it.
I also got that just now - Firefox on XP. Try again another time.
Wessel
It keeps on saying only sound and audio files aloud. And Im trying to upload a MP3 ?
NorioDS
Thanks for the bug reports, guys, it really helps polish the uploader.
Wessel, try again and post the error message here. I changed it so it gives a tad more info.
Thanks!
Wessel
Haha sies!
The error message.
Sorry, only audio files are allowed. (Your file is reportedly: )
NorioDS
Woah that's weird. OK I'm gonna change it yet again and see what happens this time.
NorioDS
OK, I've changed the code to email me a complete log of what happened if something goes wrong. Please try again ?
