Crowded House @ Carnival City

I wasn't sure what to expect from Crowded House, I wasn't exactly a fan, but did acknowledge the creativity and song craft that Neil Finn so abundantly has.

Farryl Purkis opened up with three very peculiar songs that didn't seem to fit the occasion. First time I have seen him, he has a good voice and can play a bit but I felt he would have been more at home with a discerning audience e.g. TJ's etc.

Neil Finn has such a powerful and amazing voice, he often sounded better than the studio recordings.

He also played a couple of guitars, Gibson Les Paul goldtop with P90's, A kind of SG model, a lovely looking Gretsch and I couldn't indentify the fourth guitar.

Added to the lineup are two american musicians , a multi Instrumentalist and a Powerhouse drummer, Matt Sherrod. They mixed the old with the new which seemed to work well.

The only negative thing is that each time Neil changed his guitar, the sound took a bit of a dip.

The encore song was "Weather with you" which had all the cell phones on (modern day lighters) and all these old people in their 40's out of their seats and swaying from side to side ?

All in all, I actually enjoyed the concert...

I'm glad you enjoyed the show Squonk, I met a couple of people on Saturday evening at a function (ordinary people, like our age, and not musicians....hahahaha)....who thought the show was crap. Which reminds me of the Deep Purple show a few weeks ago, which was for me very depressing and disappointing.... all I enjoyed like I said was Steve Morse.....

Hopefully U2 will be awesome......or I'm getting old!!!! ?
