Architect--3 Hi all This is my first post so i hope i dont mess it up. ? Ok heres what i need to do; I have a Squier strat and i want to upgrade it nice n shinny like. "But wait!" you say, "Why not just buy a new guitar, it'll be cheaper!". This guitar means alot to me because it was the 1st, i really want to keep it. So i want to do a complete overhaul on the guitar, replace the neck, pickups(to EMG humbuckers), bridge and all internal parts. So i need many advice from you guitar fundi's. Firstly where is the best place to get this stuff online or in Port Elizabeth? I estimate it to cost roughly R2000 what do you think? Thanks. ?
IceCreamMan 2 clip in the great scheme of things aint a fortune , i say go for it ..... not sure on costs but look at www.tonerider.co.za as well. for a clip u get 3 pups that work well. can always take the mods off again
BMU Keeping your first beloved axe is a really good idea, I think most of us wish we did at some point. What you're talking about doing changes the axe entirely and might end up more like R4-6k (but let's see what the real experts say, I'm just guessing). I think EMGs are about R1500 each. You'd need to route the body to fit them (even if you have humbuckers in there already.)

infernox To be honest with you I have my first Cort X-1 which I will upgrade/hotrod at some stage next year, but the advice I can give is: If you need to hotrod then dont go all out, upgrade the stock pick ups with Tonerider models maybe, the nut with a graphtec version and maybe add some bling to the hardware, BUT you could also do what I did and buy your second guitar, I bought my Cort EVL-Z2 and due to a problem on the finish I upgraded to a Z4, for the price as a rock/metal guitar player I could not buy a better guit. The difference between the Z4 and the X1 is monumental and it gave me a whole new appreciation for believe it or not, my X-1 as I tuned it down to Drop-D once I got the Z4. All Im saying is rather get a good guitar as your second and as your playing that, spend time (most important) and money on your first love. That way, a faulty cable or solder wont ruin your experience whilst your hot-rodding.
MIKA-the-better-one My first guitar was a squire stagemaster.... I sold it, and bought something better...... To me a guitar is a tool for what i love, you dont see guys keeping there bust up mazda 323's because it was there first car..... First chance thaey get they sell it and get an upgrade..... My point is there is alot of personalising of a guitar.....When there is no person I love my Fender strat but only because I havent yet found a guitar that sounds and feels as good as it does....... A guitar is just a peice of wood, its up to you how much you make it a person. Aside from that just order pickups from USA its faster than the local mobster shops.... more efficiant, cheaper, and you have a choice...... When I say cheaper i mean cheaper........
