Dang, that's awesome. ? Where'd you get one? I'm half Portuguese (my dad was born and raised in Port). Our family is making a trip there in march/april next year, I think I godda find me one of these ?

I picked this one up in Lisbon (was there on holiday)..

ermm..you should find them in any insturment store there. This particular one i found in Lisbon central. The store is to the right hand side of the entrance to the Igreja do Carmo (the ruins, big tourist attraction off the famous rua Augusta. About 1km from Rossio station if youre interested). The shops name is Silvino but there arent any names outside so you must just keep an eye out when walking.. ?

Sweet, I was wondering if i'd find any cool music stores there.. Do they sell guitars? Or weird instruments only?

2nd in reply to the quote .. nah don't play fado tunes use this "unique" in south africa..........instrument to great an original sound around jhb ..... coud prove very ibteresting both audibly and visually

At Guitarboy, yeh there are plenty of instrument stores. This particular one specialized in more "traditional" instruments but Lisbon and Porto have a few Guitar Center type stores with hundreds of guits.

Prices are reasonable depending o what you are looking for. All n all, not too dissimilar from SA. UK and US still cheaper in my opinion.

Thought Id post some clips of this instrument in action, been trying my darndest but this is quite difficult. Needless to say im struggling big time.. :-[

hmmmm, for some or other reason I'm in the mood for peri-peri chicken.

Damn that's an interesting sound, very metallic......I was thinking that it would be more like a bandolim. A local resturant that I used to frequest had a player and man my food used to get cold most fo the time.

Can you restring/retune it into normal "goodbye eddie" mode? Or would that be missing the point?
