I finally got my music room

Well a decision was made last weekend to convert a dis-used dining room into a bigger bedroom for my daughter and so my daughters old room is being given back to me......(used to be my play room before the chaotic life of parenting came along).

It's got a double cupboard in, which is going to be the first thing to be pulled out as well as shelving. Final plans are to re-do the ceiling and to sound deaden that properly as well. This time around I'm deff going to put in AC and more than likely board up the window and just keep the blinds in the window so that things look normal from the outside and then line the whole room with my mix match layers of studding, 2nd walls as well as sound deadening.

This isn't a HUGE room, a little overr 3 x 3m, but it's a start and I'm dead chuffed. I've helped build 2 sound rooms as my friends seem to find my civil engineering background somewhat helpful, so I've picked up a lot of great ideas that I can't wait to use on my own project.

Anyone else in here have their own spot?

awesome! had a room when i had a band.. alas the demise of the band was also the demise of the jam space..

actually house hunting at the mo so naturally a jam room is obligatory. my neighbour is a producer and converted and proofed a bedroom into a sound room. very cool

I've got a work/music room/studio that's about 5 X 4. It already has a double ceiling (rhinoboard over the joists under an old wooden ceiling) so no real need to do anything else. Neighbour is tolerant, so no problems there. It has a big fitted cupboard along one wall, but that comes in super handy for storage of boxes, cases and sundry musical paraphernalia.

I'm thinking about commandeering our 8 X 5 lounge though. We're doing a lot more jamming and that has a lot more space for a more flexible playing area. There is also a a small (relatively - about 3.5 X 2.5) room leading off to one side that we hardly use that would work well for a vocal/iso room (currently only has a spare desk and our file/backup server, so we call it the "server room" ?). Closest neighbour on that side is about 250m away too. ?
