So what other hobbies do you lot have?

Was thinking about this after chatting to a mate last night and he was a bit amused to hear what else I get up to with my spare time.

So let's hear what else you lot get up to when you're not playing guitar.

I skateboard (halfpipe in backyard), play golf, love gardening and am actively part of 3 car clubs (modern and vintage), love woodworking and metal work. I'm married and have a daughter Abby (3.5) and Natalie is currently 5 months in the making and will be making an appearance on the 18th Feb. Daughter loves the guitar and loves bashing pots..........I have found a drummer to jam with.

I take it that you dont have a wife and children ?

Most of my time is taken up with my two boys Declan (18 months) and Callum (9 Years) and daughter Sinead (12 Years), and let me tell you this is a fulltime hobby.

Sporting events, School events, Cricket and Football in the Yard, Panorama Football Club(The season was from Feb till October, 2 practices per week, matches on the weekend!) School Projects etc etc etc.

Other than that I do find some quiet moments to catch up on some guitar ?
And I haven't even mentioned the wife yet!

The good news is that Callum (9) has shown an interest in playing guitar, he can play the riff of "The White Stripes" Seven Nation Army. he cant get enough of that song.

Lol, just added that...........married for 5 years and have a daughter of 3 1/2 and another due in mid Feb........I lead a busy life. I don't know how I forgot to add my wife and daughter in hobbies as they both take up all my spare time.lol. Wouldn't change anything though.

Wow flatfourfan, you gotta have more than 24 hours in your day ?

Other than guitar and work, my hobbies are also my family, wife and two boys aged 1 year (first bday last wednesday) and 4 years.

My 4 year old is starting to express alot of interest in guitar and his lessons with dad will be starting soon.

All my spare time goes to these 3 people and I too, would not change it for the world 8)

But, when they are all sleeping, thats when the 6 strings come out!

I love media stuff and part of my job includes doing a lot of media. So my hobby is my job, so that rocks! ? No kids, no wife, still in college, so, that keeps me busy! ?

I am a horology nut, I collect mechanical watches. I sadly only have 3 ? But they all cost more than my guitars :-[... Stay away if you want to save millions in a a single life time
My dream watch is a Richard Mille RM04 Tourbillon, at R3million for a watch, I am going to need to get quite a few government tenders ? (That is not even the most expensive for those thinking I am mad)

My other hobby is MTB, free ride, mountain biking, downhill, X country. If there is sand, mud mountain, speed, blood, sweat, any of those. Im there..
I ride a Specialized Stumpjumper, my other quarter ?

Oh and I love reading.

I drink whiskey and red wine, I have a decent 'collection'... I drink them all, not a bottle left unscrewed.

I work... I do enjoy my job 8)

A 3yr old and a 2 1/2yr old. Yep... that sums it up. Sneak out for band practices after they're asleep at 7. Otherwise look for new music, occasional PS3 (use it mainly to watch movies but enjoy a little Dirt 2 every now and then). My wife is a cinephile (masters in film theory) so we watch a lot of movies. Read a lot as well, new Jonathan Franzen (Freedom) at the mo. I don't feel like most of those are "hobbies" though?! Just life. I compulsively search for new bands, I guess that's collecting in a sense...

I dive when I get the time, which is not often unfortunately. I currently call myself a half trained rescue diver ?

I also ride MTB, mostly free ride, although none of my friends do which makes it a bit of a one man expedition.

I work in CG and animation, so that is both my main income and a hobby.

O, and golf when the desire hits me.

There is also the XBox for mindless distraction.

Well I ride in Pta.. mostly around the east. But do venture towards Groenkloof on occasions.
So if you ever keen, we out most Saturday mornings and Sundays

Riding my bike. Sadly not much these days ☹ (enjoyed trackdays until I got retrenched a year ago and sold the Yamaha)
Now I use a dual purpose bike and hope to to some more gravel roads soon. ?

I had a leatherwork hobby and made belts and keyring/licence card holders for friends (as gifts coz there's no munny to be made)

Thick leather hand stitched quivers for drummers to keep spare sticks in on theire kits, and broad straps for guitarists (specially for heavy bass guitars)
this began when a buddy of mine got a stiff neck and sore shoulder from using a Peavey T40 bass guitar ?

I have my own one which I use regularly and every once in a while someone shows me one that I made years ago,
and they swear by it. ?

This is my current full time Hobby

His name is Declan and he loves emptying bottles, deodarant cans, dishwashing liquid, all the stuff in the freezer.
He also loves putting rocks, cutlery, toys etc in the swimming pool.

When he finally gets to sleep at around 20:00, I pour myself a glass of wine and relax for awhile ?

i ride motorcycles and read history , specifically the nazi germany era and WW2. Lay expert on that (consider myself anyway)

Well I love the ocean, so when I'm not playing guitar I'm fighting with my marine fish tank, surfing and diving.
I also like to braai, like in 3-4 times a week! Watch rugby and drink red wine ?

Got a wife and our first little one will arrive next year April.
