until recent i've been a die hard solid bridge user. :-[ ......until i played on a friends music man luke, it has schaller locking tuners and a vintage type...

My Pacifica has a wilkinson 2-screw bridge and locking sperzels. Solid as a rock, and a very nicely finished bridge and bar. No tuning issues at all.

Out of all the various bridge types to go for in the synchronised trem world I'd rate the Wilkinsons are probably the best ?

I say it like "Got-Oh".

@Chad +1 - Trev Wilkinson is a designer, not a manufacturer and the Gotoh Made Wilky stuff is usually far better than a lot of the parts made in China for companies like GuitarFetish. Gotoh has quite a range too - Floyds, floating designs like the VS100 and unusual hybrids like the two-stud synchronised trems.

BTW - if anyone is wondering, synchronised trems pivot against the body (like Fender's original design), floating pivot against the posts (modern US Fender) and locking are floating designs that lock the strings at the nut (single-locking - Kahler) and usually also the bridge (double-locking - Floyd Rose).

Gotoh make wonderful hardware IMO. My Tokai has an aluminium tail-piece, brass-saddled bridge, and vintage Kluson style tuners. All beautifully made. From what I've seen so far, they're a class act.

I've never tried them - too ugly. The Gibson Firebird players like them.
