Hmm... is that an aged mint green pearl? Haven't seen that before - where did it come from? I have an aged parchment pearl on my Strat and I had to buy it readymade because I couldn't find parchment pearl blanks anywhere.

The colour is apparently called "Aged White (Cream) Pearloid "...originally bought a year or two ago from Bothners in CPT.

I had a choice of this one , a 3 ply plain 'mint' one , and a 3 ply white pearloid one...

If anyone wants the plain mint one or the white pearloid one , they belong to Grant Fouche' , a champion guitar tech that many Jhb okes know , ....who now works at Toms , Sandton.....he also did the superb installation. 8)

I bought a Parchment replacement guard for my strat a little while ago. From the descriptions I read, I thought it would be perfect with the daphne blue, which by now has also mellowed to a nice pale baby blue. But when I got it, it was the exact same colour as my stock guard! First I thought they stuffed up my order, but when I compared it to new white knobs and pick-up covers the difference was fairly obvious and I felt like a money wasting tit. But aged pearl.... Now that sounds promising...

No shame - Parchment's a relatively subtle difference (but nice when you want to mellow the contrast between the finish or pickup covers,etc.), so it is easy to make a mistake unless you compare. Modern guards don't age as much or anywhere near as quickly and the vast majority used stock are white, so you don't usually expect the stock guard to be parchment.

But aged pearl.... Now that sounds promising...

I got mine from Terrapin. Here are the white, parchment and cream pearls compared:

Another interesting pearl is the Warmoth celluloid pearl, which is the traditional pearloid material. It's rarely used these days as it's highly flammable and tends to shrink over time:

☹ , for interests sake Alan , the cream pearl you posted is too 'brown' in comparison to mine.

Obviously colours vary from manufacturer to manufacturer , my one is more "green" in this instance.
I'll post more pics from different angles in a few days time......... 8)

Quick pick of my stock pg with, from top to bottom, a white pup cover, my the stock pup cover, and a cream cover:

The difference is more visible in real life than the picture.
When you look at them individually only the cream seems darker, but when placed together you see the difference quite clearly.
If you look real hard you can see the tiny lip area where the neck fits over the guard and the area under the knobs is whiter than the rest as well.
