MUCH better than before I sent it up there. Thanks JP! Looks beautifully vintage. Might have to order that JP Soldano...

Thanks for the comment. That "little" 18 watter could honestly knock the socks off your drummer! The best part is the more you crank it up the more overdrive you will get! The amp has a respectable amount of clean head room but is also very sensitive to your pick/finger attack. You can crank it into lead territory and then using your guitars volume control at lower levels as well as a softer attack you can get a warm fat clean. Opening up the volume is then perfect for lead breaks.

I believe the 45w Marshall you are talking about is the JTM45. I have actually played this amp and was very impressed. Plexi's aren't "very" versatile amps as far as features are concerned but their response to the way you play is second to non (granted you buy a good Plexi). The JTM45 has PLENTY of clean headroom and you need a overdrive in front of it to kick it into crunch. The JTM45 had clean punch that I have never heard since! hope this helps

Definitely depends on the cab! I'm using a JP Le Roux 2x12" 1x Vintage 30 and 1x G12m Greenback. This cab with head has plenty of volume for a practice situation or maybe small venue if u don't mic up.

JP tweaked the preamp stage to reduce a bit of the high treble. I'm a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to to much treble from an amp I prefer meatier, darker tones. He also added a tube Rectifier (instead of the solid state) and a fender style reverb tank. As well as building the gorgeous head cab.

That is odd. Last time I chatted to him he was very much against tube rectos and told me he usually changes them to solid state... ??? :-\

sorry guys made a mistake. The extra preamp tube is in fact two extra gain stages. My mistake.
