Help Please - Song Chords - Leavin on a jet plane...

Im trying to find the proper chords for leaving on a jet plane?

but the ones i've found sound nothing like the song? ???

also, are the chords supposed to be done arpeggio style like the original john denver version?

(note the star ratings. My hunch is usually that the later versions mean that someone's tried to correct the previous ones).

Start just playing the chords through clearly. Once you can do that and manage the changes at pace, then start looking at very simple arpeggios.

I can't remember what site I bookmarked for tabs, but I'll check tonight and drop you a pm. It has a cool function that automatically transposes the chords for you if you change the key. Of the top of my head I think it was C-F-G. You might try E-A-D or F-Bb-C as well.

some are in G / C, others are in D/G, so its confusing...
maybe I'll get it...

trying to find simple songs to practice my chord progressions to! my teacher mentioned this one a while ago, but we started on something else...

though, when i had my lesson, it sounded like the song, but now that im at home, it sounds nothing like it?! im just lost at the moment :'(

Just keep cracking at it. Have a copy of the song to hand and use the same key is my advice. So when ol John sings, "All my bags are packed," check that the chord fits that "bags." That's your root. I'm guessing it'll be the G.

The thing is that the chords don't really sound like anything without the melody. If you don't have the melody running through your head it's just these disconnected chords.

Keep working on it. You'll get it in the end. No question.

thats the problem... he's playing in arpeggio which is alot harder for me to hear than a normal chord...
ugh... well, i guess i'll just keep at my normal chords for a while still then!
