This weeks challenge was a bit tricky so we only have the brave and the stupid entering all in category A
Hey man, here's my first entry. http://www.box.net/shared/kanl291ehv Advanced

Found it strange to be that specific/technical timing-wise for the blues, so I just did an up-tempo blues number. Disqualify me if you think it doesn't meet the brief. Category A. http://www.box.net/shared/mckrtrv0la

Ok the management have persuaded me to enter this week. Because I'm such a flippen genius I decided not only to try blues at 160bpm but also to throw some tritone substitution at it and create a Basie Blues ( after Count Basie the famous Jazz pianist and band leader). So instead of A7 | D7 | A7 | A7| D7 | D7 | A7 | A7| E7 | D7 | A7 | E7 I did this A7 | D7 | A7 | Em7 A7| D7 | Cdim | A7 | C#m7 F#7| Bm7 | E7 | C#m7 F#7| Bm7 E7 And to further humiliate myself I am entering it in Category A http://www.box.net/shared/47plf9x6lm
No way guys.

AMAZING ENTRIES. Really just WOW ???

Ryan - You a fan of Jack White? Cool stuff man.. Interesting tones. But I think the timing is off quite a few times? Correct me if I am wrong.

Pete - Again freaking cool, great singing too ? I really like the composition, the playfulness between the rhythm and lead is interesting, I would've liked to hear them blended JUST a touch but hey that's me.

Rene - Smooth man, silky silky smooth especially at that tempo.

I really don't know who to vote for yet, I'm still too blown away ?
Ha! Glad I didn't enter this one...

Thats some good blues right there. All of them.

ruanguit: Thats exactly the kind of entry I envision when I think "Blues @ 160bpm". Well played, good tone. Could have made the ending a bit better I guess, you still had another 7 seconds afterall ?. You got my vote anyhow

PeteM: Very very good. The kind of stuff I like to listen to. Very good voice too.

Rene: What Mike said. Like the Jazzy sound, thats the tritone talking? (yes I know I should know this but I'm verstrooid)
Eish - this was hard.
Well done !!
@Pete - here's to hoping you get your soul back from the devil ?
OK.. this is the first challange ive listened to since last year August and honestly.. Ill never enter again.. Unless there is now at long last a catagory for drummers trying to play guitar who now plays bass.. These were awesome!!!
Yeah my ending sucked worse than the rest of my track. Its my 1st entry, so i stuck to the rules. 1 min, strictly on topic, faster than 160... A shuffle at 190 is gonna be pretty hard to keep perfect so theres a bit of 'rhythmic freedom' haha. Esp in that 2nd cycle. But it was my best take, and the only time i got that damn slide on smoothly while holding the B note end of 2nd cycle.
Oh and Jack White is not a hero, but i can hear what you mean, esp in 1st and 3rd cycles.

Was super fun jamming blues for a change.
But it was my best take, and the only time i got that damn slide on smoothly while holding the B note end of 2nd cycle.
Dig the tone, dig the vibe, DIG that slide man 8)

Super cool!!!
really like your tone ryan! how did you record?
Oh my word, did you all sell your souls to the devil or does being flippin' good just happen to be apart of your DNA? Wow guys, I get back from the USA to hear this, good to be back in the land of milk and honey!! ?
Ryanguit won this one by a leap and a bound - well done looking forward to more from you. :applause: ?arty: :bopping:
Well done Ryanguit, I liked that 'bluesy' tone you had on your guitar :applause:
thanks okes! just wish more people had entered cos it was way more fun playing it than it was listening to it!

Sorry I didn't get to vote in time. Go Pete!! I really liked your one. Rene, nice to hear from you, a rare treat. Ryan, not sure, but I understand this is your debut? WELL DONE, what a way to start.
