Gotta follow the theme here wrt naming topics ?
So lately I've had a bit of a yearning for some brütals. Having listened to heavy rock for most of my life, I've never really been into playing it. So after some dabbling in the world of hi-gain, by youtubing loads of hi-gain pedals for an evening, I picked one for the top of the list being the MXR Fullbore Metal.
However by my luck, the very next day I came across one pedal I'd checked out the day before but ignored as it seemed gimmicky to me. So when I came across the add, I checked it again, turned out the one tone they got from it was the exact one I was searching for ?
See the what I mean, who'd have thought that this pedal was basically exactly what I was hunting for, some valve based pedal thing. Turns out I got it for a bargain as well - which counted for a lot for me ? But yep I'm loving this thing to bits. Here's a quick recording, first take, no monitoring - plugged straight from the emulated output into my soundcard.
Chugga chugga
That's from my stock Epi LP Custom. Could be a touch tighter, but there'll be a pickup swap soon.
Long story short, I'm happy, paid R700 for a really cool pedal. The only thing that I don't like is it's not true bypass. So much for me disregarding a pedal cause it has a "gimmick" ? Also, this was supposed to be in there somewhere.. The MXR Fullbore, sounds TERRIBLE. It's flat, dull, dead, and has a real strange scooop to it.. I'm so glad I got to test it out ? The guy I bought from had both, what're the chances ?
