Best Distortion I have ever played is the
MI Audio Crunchbox, so versatile, I'm also in an Alt rock band, and it suits it perfectly. Great tone.
And also, why has no one mentioned the
DD-20? That has some wicked clean delay tones.

Build up your collection the way many of us do - keep an eye on the classifieds and Capeads and when you see something affordable/interesting, do some research and buy it if it takes your fancy. That way if you don't like it or if something else comes along, you can always sell it on at minimal loss. There's been a lot of stuff coming up for sale at very good prices this year...
I thought I was the only one doing that. I recently bought the Boss FA-1 not knowing a single thing about it, quickly researched, found it its pretty solid, put my money together and went for it. Ha ha ha
Oh, put you will HAVE TO HAVE TO have a reverb unit (repetition implied), I dont, and I suffer for it. I played on the Holy Grail Nano at Marshall the other day, and that really just fills up all your solo's and chords so much more. Especially for Alt. Rock
