Help!

Hi there everyone

I need some advice!!!!!

I bought myself a really nice Ibanez Acoustic/Electric guitar in July and it was a great instrument................

Unfortunately....my EX-girlfriend decided that she was upset with me (no stories required!) and decide to make it a jigsaw puzzle with her foot.................

SO.................

I have a beautiful Ibanez guitar with a smashed body.............

The neck., head, pickup etc are all good.......

I want to try and either restore it or build another guitar.

Ideas/comments/stories/horrors????

Well...

Depending who was to blame in the whole mess, ie. the breakup, you can claim for damages. I study Law and that shit is definitely possible.

A mate's wife drove over his Cort some years ago and I rescued the electronics and had them fitted to my Washburn which worked very well. ?
It involved cutting the body for the battery pack and also cutting the bridge a couple of millimetres lower for the Fishman pick-up,
and drilling the hole a bit bigger for the jack-plug insert which was also the rear strap holder (the old strap holder was fitted to the back of the neck where it meets the body)
It's all do able but best left to someone who knows what they're doing.
If the machine heads are better they too could be fitted to the other guitar but might also require drilling larger holes if they're of the locking kind with nuts on the top.
The neck and body can just go into the bin, it's unlikely that you could glue the neck to a new body. ☹

Problem is finding a guitar somewhere that is worthy of being a donor. :-\

It can be fixed.

Question is whether or not it's worth it, and what degree of repair you want - do you want the guitar just to be functional or do you want the repairer to do cosmetic work to reduce the signs of the breakage?

It may not be worth it in rands and cents terms, it may be cheaper to just get something else. If the guitar has a particular sentimental value to you then that changes the equation, but only you can decide if it's worth the outlay or not. Try to get an estimate from a good repair guy.

i have studied law and matters not who is to blame , damages are def claimable.

Now to get her back ,post those private pics of her here ?

I have already replaced the guitar............With a Ovation............much better

but I wanted to turn it into a "project"

Do you guys think I could build a solid body acoustic??

I think a solid body acoustic won't be that acoustic... But you caould do some research on hollow bodies ?

How about some shots of the guitar wreck? Theres a guy here in Durban who repairs all kinds of smashed guitar shaped objects - most car accident injuries though... But a project with the smashed guitar sounds like fun too? I reckon you must be able to use the "salvaged" parts ie neck etc... If you want to get rid of them, however, let me know ?
