I read both the reason and cubase manuals on how to do it, but cant get it working?
I set up reason as a slave and cubase as the master, then created a midi track in cubase and connected it with the reason patch i created, No signal coming back from reason to cubase?
Can Anyone help please.!!!

Don't know Reason or Cubase, but isn't rewire an "audio only" patching system? In which case you need to get the MIDI from Cubase to Reason with a similar program for MIDI (like Hubi's LoopBack device) or MIDI Yoke, then use rewire to get the audio back from Reason to Cubase.
I really don't know these proggies though - anyone else?

Rewire is a protocol, when midi is triggered in cubase(master) and assigned to the reason patch, it sends back the midi from reason(slave) to cubase, that way you can use 2 sequencing programs at the same time without useing to much proccessing power.
The reason for doing this is to combine synths in reason with recorded audio in cubase.
Since reason is a midi only sequencer.

Try going into Reason / then hit tab , patch the individual module (Eg. Dr Rex)
straight into your mixer (eg. channel 1)
Then in Cubase look at the Devices / Rewire , enable all the Channels, even if you only using the 1st two...
Click on them till they blue...
Then you should be good to go, check your output, on your event inspector...
Select your Reason Module , eg Dr Rex,
then it should work

Thanks andrew it works perfectly, the only mistake made was to enable only the midi channels i was useing.
Strange?
Now i can compose the way i want to.
Thanks alot. i really mean it.

Excuse my ignorance but why would you want to do anything with Reason when you have Cubase ? ???
andrewjbryson
Reason 3/ 4 have some pretty nifty synths, drum loops and wierd sounds
"The Combinator" can be used to combine sawtooth / square waveforms with bizarre sounds etc
"Dr REX" is a cool way to lay down basic drum loops, drum fills, etc..
cant remember any of the rest, havent used Reason for a while
but using Reason in conjunction with Cubase is a nice setup to run

Rene basically reason is all the sounds in one program, hammond organs, violins, pianos, electronic keyboard sounds.
I used to be anti reason as well, but it is really easy to compose within a matter of minutes.
