If you are playing blues in 4/4 time you will need to work in 1/8 triplets to get the shuffle to work this translates to 8 notes a second which is a pretty fast tremolo picking. However before you all run away in horror, in blues you do not play every note . Phrases of 2 to 6 notes per bar are good. So you don't need to be a shredder to do this just be wide awake and be prepared for the the changes particularly at the turnaround.
