No problem Singe. It must be the 1st time that this word has been used on this Forum....and 2 above is actually quite fitting (not only to Gibson of course ; I smell a bit of Tokai there as well ?).
That's central to my arguments. If Tokai cuts corners I'll hand them their asses. I support Tokai for just as long as they offer great guitars for great prices. Luckily they've been doing an almost unbroken line of that since 1979 so there's good hope (but hope only. It's not a prediction) that I'd never have to change my tune. Note the word "unquestioning," in the second definition. Unquestioning brand loyalty may be ok if you sell the product, but not if you have pay for it.
With both guitars and cameras (the two things with which I'm most familiar) you get a big chunk of owners who will defend and justify obvious flaws in design or manufacture of their brand of choice. But there are always people who don't. That's a very healthy attitude IMO.
Brand fetishism reminds me of party-fetishism, in which people unquestioningly support certain political parties no matter how egregiously they mess up or are shown to be run against the interests of the average supporter. "I'll always vote for them, because they're my party."
However no 3 will unlock the humourous responses ? ....to be expected.
Of course. But I worry that some people may not have read the Tintin book, The Broken Ear, and may not know the word in its original meaning.
