Mikael Akerfeld - Opeth (probably one of the best songwriters I've heard in a while)
Steve Vai - I'm gonna say him because I've been watching his DVD in the past few weeks and it seems that he has officially STOPPED learning guitar. I can't see him learning anything else lol
Guthrie Govan - Been really getting into him lately (And I don't normally do solo guitarists)
His playing is really clean
Well his playing, no so sure about his hair.
Renesongs
it seems that he has officially STOPPED learning guitar.
IMO the only guitarist who have stopped learning guitar are people like Jimi Hendrix, Stevie-Ray Vaughn and Frank Zappa - they're dead.
Satriani
100%
Any guitarist who is a good musician knows they will never ever stop learning. From a theory perspective tho, I feel there are certain musicians who really have LEARNT everything, BUT not mastered everything, hence u can never stop learning to master concepts and ideas

Mark Tremonti is currently blowing my socks off. I've only recently discovered Alter Bridge, and I can truly say I'm impressed...
Other guitarists I'm liking at the moment is Synyster Gates & Zacky Vengeance (Avenged Sevenfold), Claudio Sanchez & Travis Stever (Coheed and Cambria) and Joel O'Keeffe & David Roads (Airbourne)

Alter bridge's guitarist is SICK!!!!!he is very good..
i don't see why people think Vacky Vengence is good,i've never actually seen him solo or anything, only harmony solos with Synyster gates, but that's just my opinion...

Most of my favourite guitarists have been listed above so i shall not bore u with a lengthy list, but a special mention must definitely go to Jack White from the White Stripes, one of my guitar heroes no doubt.
Epibluesman
I have to agree, as a lover of blues and the intergration of it into rock Jack White is a living legend. Often critised for his simplicity but I think it is the simplicity that completes his sound. His use of the digitech whammy pedal and the slide is also praiseworthy!!!
Reinhardt
Mark Tremonti is the reason why I'm playing guitar... :-[

You gotta watch the whole thing to appreciate what this guy is doing.
