Guitarists alert: Bloemendal Wine Estate's Plaasfees 2/3 Oct 2010

bloukie · 2010-09-28T12:44:01+00:00

The theme for this weekend Season of Sauvignon event at the Bloemendal Wine Estate might have undergone a bit of a change but the tradition of getting guitar driven bands on the music programme remains (if you excuse the Piet Botha Boereorkes and the possibility of a backtrack singer or two). Guitarists to watch out for on the Saturday (program starts from 11am) include: Craig Cannone (together with friends) Wayne Pauli (Gee, is this boy a sweet Strat player....) Gerald Clark (Acoustic blues master) Basson Laubcher (Zinkplaat's kitaarslaner and he of the tube screaming Strat slide) Richard Pryor (I think we know him by now, hey?) The Sunday program starts at 12pm and includes: Dave v/d Linde (The reinventor of the funked-up Strat through the Vox AC30 sound) The Diamond Back Blues band as well as the Studebakers will also be cranking out the blues, so it promises to be a great time to ask your mother in law to mow the lawn.

It's a great idea! I know Mike is really keen on promoting the new blues bands as he has just joined one.
You should really get this together.
I'll have a chat to Mike 2morrow afternoon at the setup for the Fest. Us & The Studerbakers are gonna pull in there for a bit of a sound check & early evening jam/get together.
Pull in for a beer or bottle of wine and we can have a chat.

Later.

Hope to see you all there this w/end....and dont 4get Cannon play early on saturday! 8)

What an enjoyable weekend and great to meet so many GFSAs at the fest. The weather played along (for the first time as if I recall correctly) and the music was great.

Don't shoot me guys, but I really enjoyed the Boeremusiek and the Piet Botha Boerorkes's guitarist sure knows his chops. Dan gooi hy spinnekop (any chord that sees an extention of the hand and fingers), dan gooi hy katvoet (normally major 7 and more closed hand chords) en dan gooi hy kruis (D major). Balke!!!

Yesterday afternoon's program featured great blues from Diamondback and Studebakers. Bed on bricks closed procedings with a hot funk set.

Thanks Mike Crwaford for your commitment to local live acts. Long may it continue......

Yea man it was great, I really enjoyed Zinkplaat's set, their version of The Weight by The Band really knocked my socks off. Also really enjoyed the Johnny Cash Tribute, well done bloukie!

Cannon even allowed me to make some noise on a tin sandwich as part of his set, thanks again for that man.

I couldn't make sunday, enjoyed saturday a bit too much!

Yea Mike is really doing a lot for live music in the area, good man!

Cannon

No worries! It was an awesome weekend! Thanx to all who pulled in and thanx to Mike for yet another very successful event! Cant wait for the next one! 8)
