I recently got a Yamaha APX 4 12A acoustic guitar. The top bellied out because of a loose bridge plate that I repaired
using Imbuia wood. Personally I feel that 12 stings have got too much tension on the bridge and the neck. If youv'e
got an Ovation or a Gretch that would be a different story. The normal Chinese guitars are simply not up to it. Are the players tuning the 12 strings down in pitch and using a capo on the first fret or are you tuning it to normal pitch?

The cheaper 12s can't take the pressure. 12s are supposed to have thicker tops and heavier bracing, but the cheapies are made identically to the 6 strings, just with a different bridge and headstock. Tune down and use a capo.
