If this guitar is new to you then have you checked the setup? Maybe the action is too high.
One thing you can look at when buying a guitar is width at the nut. They're not all equal in this regard. An extra 1/8 of an inch sounds like not much but in reality makes a big difference.
I hear you. I'm not a total novice, I guess it's just learning from the start, (something that I never really did). I went straight into playing chords and didn't learn the basics, guess it's all catching up with me now.
The action on the guitar is a little too high for my liking, I'm going to wait to do something about that until my nut gets replaced at the end of the month. But I think that the problem lies is with the user................................practice practice and more practice.
