Help with getting a new lead cable

The one that came with the guitar has started acting up. Generally, "extras" like that are inferior quality and sooner or later that shows...so any suggestions, favourites, stay-away-from-that-cable or other advice on a new cable?

well whave you been looking after the leads? ie rolling them up properly after gigs? generally leads are pretty tough & i find just taking care of your equipment makes a big difference.

get 2 nuetrik connectors and a decent cable and make one up, your local guitar shop will be able do this for you.

edit: +1 on the rolling up, thats a huge factor

+2 on the neutrik connecters! although they are not all that necessary, all you really need is a decent cable - i get a perfectly good & professional sound by just rolling up my cables after a gig...

i've ordered a fender vintage voltage cable and a fender koil cable. should arrive soon. bloody nice looking things, keen to see if it makes any difference to the cheapy pro-el and cashcrusaders speaker cables i've been using..

the connectors dont do anything for sound quality, the reason for using neutrik is that they are very rugged and can take some beating.(specially for mic cables.)

Great vid! One thing to add to the info in it though - TEST the cable before you shrink the heatshrink. Otherwise if you make a mistake, you'll end up not only correcting the mistake, but cutting the heatshrink off and removing a plug to get more on again.

i think matta can source them for you and make up the cables as well IIRC

The lead is plugged into the practice amp pretty much all the time. I only plug in the guitar and then remove it...so I do leave it erm, sort of rolled up, most of the time.

Matta made me cables using Mogami and Amphenol a few weeks ago and I have to say, I'm immensely impressed with the sound quality. Works out cheaper than buying from shops imo.

Definite "Stay-away cables" for me would be Klotz and Planet Waves. Always seemed to crackle or break quickly. I've had 'Monster' Cables for over 8 years now and they're still going strong. I don't even bother to roll them up properly and they still behave themselves!
