The Hendrix gig I'd like to have been at came early on in his career, not long after he'd relocated to London. Clapton and Pete Townsend and Paul McCartney all smuggled themselves in and reportedly every guitar player in London was at the gig because word was out, and they all sat and howled because it was game over and they had all just lost.
The one you ought to like, Bob ( ?) is the Band of Gypsies performance which he did for contractual reasons with Billy Cox and... whatsisname on drums. Many agree, and I'm one, that that is the most electrifying recording of Jimmy Hendrix ever. But he was pissed off, and just stood in one place on the stage and played with no theatrics at all.
Combination of anger, a drummer who could keep time for a change, a phenomenally solid, simple bass-player - who doesn't try to compete by widdling all over the neck - and a wealth of very different songs make that an unforgettable piece of rock/soul/funk guitar playing.
