Riaan I've heard that this is a not too uncommon thing. Justin Sandercoe mentioned this also in one of his videos - he didn't want to name the artist though. Dummy stacks behind the guitarist who actually uses a small 30 watt amp, miked to the PA and hidden somewhere out of view... ?
Renesongs I took my daughter to an Avril Lavigne concert when she was still a puppy. After a 15 min interval a wall of Marshall cabs appeared on stage. The heads were apparently all on judging by the power lamps but nobody was plugged into any of the heads? ☹
guitarboy2828 I always knew they weren't plugged in, because a wall of Marshall stack's would probably be heard by the rest of the USA... However, I figured they'd at least have real Marshalls stacked up! ? Anyone know where I can get some fake stacks? I wana use them for my next gig ?
dee At least Jimi got it right.... Bad photo, but all 3 Marshalls and 6 stacks are daisy chained. One amps' output to the next one's input.
Vick Hahaha.....nice..... But oky,recently iv had a apivany of sum sorts..... Having ridiculously loud stage volumes is kinda stupid..... But I'd still like to look cool B) so if I get really famous one day,I might consider getting dummy stacks....or just get a couple for display purposes..... That being sad, imagine how funny a add for dummy stacks would be......"Marshall dummy stacks......helping the wieners look like zakk" - oky so mabe its not that funny....
AlanRatcliffe Rush took it to the other extreme - they DI with PODs and such, but instead of using dummy stacks, they stack washing machines and tumble driers behind them. ?
Renesongs OK that does it I'm going to hire a bunch of old upright pianos, furniture and a few coffins mounting 12" speakers to have stacked up behind us at our début at Wembley ?
Keira-WitherKay awesome pic.................... ? years ago i went to see ZZ top live and also the stack of amps on each side of the drummer was mountainous but i assume only one or two were in use............ but i looked way cool on the stage ..................
