I have just recently upgraded all my patch cables as well as put a very decent power supply on my board.
I found the cables to make a great difference to my tone.
However, I am not convinced this is the way to go. Reason being that last night in my practise room / bedroom
my tone seems to be too harsh now? even EQ'ing the amp to compensate,most of my drive pedals didnt seem to sound WOW to me anymore?
It could very well be that I was having a bad tone day ?
The "bad tone day" thing is a likely suspect, otherwise you should have been able to dial in a more appropriate tone between pedals and amp.
Remember everything works together as a system to achieve your tone. If it is the patch cables, they are simply letting you hear what is
really going on, that's all. While it can work, I don't like the idea of using cables as "tone modifiers" - too unpredictable.
