Rolling Stone disappeared up it's own backside years ago.
Often these lists are collated from on-line polls, so they tend to be biased heavily towards big hits. I don't take the polls seriously. Their list of guitar players had Kobain way up the rankings. I actually think that Kobain was a significant figure in the greater history of rock, but in the top 20 guitar players of all time? Gimme a break. The people who vote in these things cofuse popularity and fame with merit.
Stairway To Heaven is in the top 40 on this list. A notable guitar solo, but a great song? Hmmmm.... a better song than "Walk On By", "Eleanor Rigby" or the fabulous, gorgeous, damn-near-perfect "Waterloo Sunset"? Bah.
