Ibanez Jemini Distortion Pedal by Steve Vai

I found this pedal while searching for the Satchurator. I listened to a few different people playing on it, and it sounds absolutely horrid to me. IT has Vai's typical crazy look and aesthetics but lets face it, Vai uses so many enhanced sounds from pc's and pedals at once that there is NO way this pedal will get you ANYWHERE near his sound. It's got 2 pedals in 1. The one is meant to be like a Boss DS-1 (GREAT classic pedal) and pedal 2 is supposed to sound like a Tubescreamer I think. Anyhoo, from what I've heard, the only thing it has going for is its uber sexehness!

wow, looks like Vai managed to cram his two OD pedals into one signature ? He'll probably throw out his DS-1 for leads now.

hmmm well the Jemini sounded great when I heard it, however Vai does pick quite hard so no doubt you have to adapt your technique to his because afterall it is his pedal.

oh and if anyone cares Vai did not use a standard DS-1, it was keeley modified (guy who replaces stuff with military grade components)

I almost peed myself when I watched his official promo video for it though...that guy is a loon ?

to be honest though Vai's tone lately hasn't been that good, his signature Carvin sounds far too weak and thins out so much when combined with ceramic pickups, I think his best tone was when he was using Bogner in the original G3 tour (for those who don't know apparently Bogner are rectifiers with an accentuated midrange) though no doubt Alan will say that his best tone was when he was using that modified strat thing through god knows what... :-[

That was his best tone. Strat with Super distortions into a Carvin X100B IIRC. I'm no fan of Super distortions, but that tone had serious attitude.
