Low humidity in Jo'burg - think about your instruments.

I have two humidity gauges here at chez X-Rated. They tend to agree with each other, so I accept them as being reasonably accurate (crap, inaccurate instruments would disagree because there's no standard crapness). This afternoon the simple gauge I got with my dampit humidifier Is right down on the lowest segment. That indicates RH under 10%. My digital gauge is reading 2% at the moment. That's low! That's dry. Spare a thought for your instruments - especially all solid-wood acoustic guitars (or cellos or violins or mandolins or etc etc). I've got humidifiers in the cases of all my acoustics at present.

I'm happy about the current low humidity levels.

I'm collecting a large shipment of nitro finished guitars tomorrow.
The humiditylevel in Japan is so high that they had to send them in special nitro 'safe' covers because the nitro is having trouble curing/drying in Japan.

I want dry air, lots of dry air. ?

Well I got a reading of about 25% right now. That's not exactly sauna territory. Now I'm off to beddy-byes.
